Corrections

Windandwarning is committed to accuracy. When an error is found in our reference material, we will correct it rather than delete the content. This approach maintains a transparent record and ensures the information remains useful. A correction note will be added at the foot of the relevant article, stating the amendment made and the date it was applied.

We distinguish between minor typographical errors and substantive corrections. A typo is a simple spelling, grammatical, or formatting mistake that does not change the factual meaning of the text. These are fixed silently. A substantive correction is required when a statement of fact about a weather system, warning, region, or other core topic is inaccurate or misleading. This includes incorrect dates, intensities, locations, or technical explanations.

To report an error, please provide the full web address of the article and quote the exact claim you believe to be incorrect. Please also detail the correct information with a reliable source. We aim to review and implement all substantive corrections within two working days, and will confirm the change via the correction note on the page.

The factual basis of our reference pages can also change because the world changes. For instance, a storm’s final intensity may be upgraded after post-analysis, a climate record may be broken, or the geographical definition of a warning region might be officially amended. In such cases, the article is updated to reflect the new reality and a correction note is added to document the change from the previously published information.
