Editorial Policy
Windandwarning publishes factual reference material and explanatory reporting about weather systems and the warnings they trigger. Our subject is the weather system itself and the official warning process, not the forecast. We cover warnings, systems, seasons, regions, the understanding of forecasts, news, impacts, climate, observations, weather history, and marine, mountain and aviation weather. We will not publish betting content, invented quotes, or material presented as instructional health, legal or financial advice. We do not report on the private lives of individuals.
Our core material is the reference page. These are permanent entries built for named storms, specific regions, weather phenomena, observation stations, forecast models, impact types, climate concepts and records. They are written in plain, concrete language and are updated only as the factual situation changes. Reporting, such as news on an ongoing storm or a new record, is kept separate from these reference pages and is clearly dated.
We only publish information that can be verified from official or authoritative sources, such as national meteorological services and recognised scientific bodies. Any claim that cannot be independently verified from such a source will not be included. We do not publish speculation or unattributed information.
All images used on windandwarning are real photographs. Where a credit exists, it is displayed. We will never publish a software-generated image of a real person's face. Maps and informational graphics are clearly labelled as such.
